Ober Gatlinburg: Hit the Slopes!Ski season at Ober Gatlinburg runs from December through March. You can drive up from town
(about 3.5 miles up Ski Mountain Road) or park downtown and ride the tramway up, taking in
the gorgeous panoramic views of downtown Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains on the way.
At the top you will find equipment rentals, ski school and Cub Way, and lifts to the more
challenging runs. In the intermediate category are Ober Chute, Bear Run, Castle Run and
Alpine Run. If you are an experienced skier, you will not be disappointed with Grizzly Trail or
Ober Gatlinburg offers day or night sessions to fill your day with fun. In between, you will find a
great restaurant, a ski lounge and a food court, to warm you up and regain your strength. Of
course, there is also shopping!
Ober Gatlinburg: But I don’t ski! What else is there to do?What else is there to do? It’s good you asked! There is an indoor ice arena, a massive 140’ x
75’ and skates available for rent, for men, women and children.
One of the most popular activities at Ober Gatlinburg is the snow tubing! Book your sessions in
person as soon as you arrive in town, because they sell out, especially during holiday periods
and weekends. The snow tubing park is 400’ with a 50’ vertical drop, and has nine lanes. They
have full snowmaking capability at this $1.5 million facility and can accommodate 150 tubers
per 90-minute session. Come prepared for FUN for your whole family.
Have you visited the Wildlife Encounter? Open year round, you will find river otters, bears
(though they may be napping in the winter), bobcats, and birds of prey. Kids especially will
enjoy the up close and personal view of these beautiful animals.
Ober Gatlinburg: New this Year Ski Mountain Coaster!In case you still aren’t convinced, the new Ski Mountain Coaster opened summer of 2015 with
almost 4000’ of breathtaking fun! Starting near the tubing park, the track climbs for about a
thousand feet before heading down with exciting dips, turns and loops The excitement lasts
about 5.5 minutes and won’t disappoint!
